an introduction into off-piste skiing and snowboarding
This course is designed for folks new to backcountry skiing and is ideal as a primer before going off piste. You'll spend a weekend in the mountains learning the basics of back country skiing/boarding: how to use your skis/board properly, a very basic introduction to avalanche awareness and emergency preparedness. After 3 days you will have gained a basic understanding about avalanche awareness, safety equipment and how to ride in deep snow!

Agenda
Day 1
Meet at sports4you sportshop at 9 am, introduce program, sign waivers, check gear then head for local ski area. Check out local conditions and warm up.
Intro to avalanche safety equipment, freeriding.
Day 2 -3
Freeriding, avalanche awareness training, video analysis.
Please note that the agenda can change due to local conditions.
We will be on the slopes between 4 to 5 hours every day, not including lunch break.

You will find this course a lot easier with an off piste ski, which has a minimum width of 80 mm underneath your ski boot. They should also have a soft flex.
To get more of a surfing feeling in powder, your board shouldn't be too short and should have a soft flex.
