This group consists of skiers who can ski all terrains comfortably but want to be able to ski higher speeds through greater dynamics, ski steeper fall line moguls with a greater range of absorption and extension, make higher speed GS freeride turns in powder and variable snow conditions and generally master a solid technique. Skiers in this group would cover steep couloirs, instructor exam technical requirements, freeride performance and higher speeds.
WHAT HAPPENS ON AN FREERIDE CENTER LEVEL 4 COURSE...
On the course you will cover several of the following topics:
EQUIPMENT CHECK. A full equipment check will be carried out to make sure your skis, boots and bindings are set up to give you a 100% safe and effective ride. You will also gain a better understanding of your kit
SKI PHYSIOLOGY Before skiing each day you will complete an aerobic warm up routine.
VIDEO ANALYSIS your skiing will be videoed. After skiing your videoed runs are analysed to give you specific feedback to then work on and change for the next day on the mountain
DEVELOPING DYNAMICS To ensure a positive result when trying out new movement ranges, the team will help you to gain valuable muscle memory using static and dynamic exercises in positions needed for good skiing
SKIING STEEPS Steep terrain skiing takes place throughout the course. Steep slopes are introduced at a progressive rate. Skiers are tested in steep, narrow couloirs and steeper off piste areas
100 % OFF PISTE + POWDER
LIKEMINDED SKIERS The Freeride Center courses are a great way to meet likeminded people who have the same common goal of improving their skiing. Many people keep in touch after the course and meet on other holidays or courses
You will find this course a lot easier with an off piste ski, which has a minimum width of 80 mm underneath your ski boot. They should also have a soft flex.
To get more of a surfing feeling in powder, your board shouldn't be too short and should have a soft flex.
We suggest bringing light clothing of varying thicknesses that can be 'layered' to achieve comfort and versatility. You need to bring:
